September 20, 2011 - Integration of Distributed Generation in The Power System – new book by STRI authors

Prof Math Bollen from STRI and Dr. Fainan Hassan (formerly at STRI, currently with Alstom Grid) have together published a 500-page book on integration of new production in the power grid. The book gives a comprehensive overview of the way in which new types of production can be integrated in the electricity network (the "grid"); small production units as well as large wind farms are considered; the impact on the distribution network and on the transmission system are both treated in this book.

Numerous results from STRI projects have formed the basis for this book and the knowledge gained from this book is already used in a number of STRI projects and will be used more in future projects. The knowledge in this book will contribute to the transition towards a smart grid as part of a sustainable energy system; a very important subject to which STRI is making small but important contributions.
